So here's the deal. I have been talking to my husband about trying something new. He is going to schedule two hours, every Wednesday night, to work on some side projects. That leaves me with four children in bed and nothing to do. I'm always complaining about how I don't have any time to do any of the yeast-free cooking or sewing projects or other various 'crafty' type things that I want to do. So, the more I thought about it, the more I thought that maybe I should try to use this time while he is working to finally accomplish some of these things. And I knew that if I shared on here that I was planning to do this, I might actually follow through.
The idea is to make a list of yeast-free recipes I want to try and use Wednesday nights while my husband is working to cook. I've also wanted to explore making my own laundry soap and other homemade concoctions that will save money, so some Wednesdays I may try these as well or in place of a recipe. The other thing I want/need to do is finish my 7 year old's quilt that I've been 'finishing' for almost 2 years. But the bottom line is, Wednesdays will require quite a bit of WILLPOWER on my part, hence the clever little title. I will have to really force myself to get off the computer and into the kitchen. Once I have finished my two hours of scheduled cooking/sewing/brewing, I will take some pictures of my accomplishment(s) and write about what I have done that night. I am hoping that this will be an enjoyable time for me and that by writing about it I will follow through.
This first Wednesday will be spent making Coconut Macaroons because they are quick and easy and I've made them before. But also because I need to take that time to plan out at least a month or two of Wednesdays. I'm horrible with plans/schedules/calendars but I know that if I write it down, it will make it easier.
Good Luck Jamie. Sounds like a wonderful idea. I am glad that you are setting aside some time for yourself. I am looking forward to reading your Willpower Wednesday posts.
ReplyDeleteBe well,

Sounds like a great idea!! My husband works three nights a week... perhaps I should develop some willpower and set aside one of them for my own projects.
ReplyDeleteI too make my own laundry soap. Love it!!
Blessings~
